The Courses
There are four levels of courses available at the 8 Ball Academy. Each offers it's own accredited qualification. Students start with the foundation course and can progress through to holding their own coaching badge, and teaching the courses to others.
Courses are held at the National Coaching Centre, Miscues in Barnsley, over three consecutive days. Fully inclusive packages are available including discounted accommodation.
Below is a very rough outline of what is contained in each course.

Foundation
The Foundation Course gives players a solid grounding in the basics of the game. These are the principals upon which great pool is founded, and these are the techniques players rarely take the time to study. Getting the basics right is a sure-fire way to become a more successful pool player.
Our course takes an in depth look at the following:
Differences from other cuesports
The stance
Bridging
Using the rest
Delivering the cue
Screwback
Stun shot
Topspin
Predicting the path of the cue ball
How cushions work
Working out the angles
Using basic side
Potting off of cushions
Effective Breaking
World Rules

Intermediate
The Intermediate Course takes players to the next level. After completing this course players will have a deep understanding of all aspects of the game and will have all the tools needed to compete at a high level.
The Intermediate course looks at the following:

14 to 1
Preparing for a match
Tactics
Clearing the table
Using cushions
Advanced use of side
Advanced Breaking
Playing on different types of table

Advanced
The Advanced Course gives players who have completed the previous courses the knowledge they need to take their game to the highest possible standard.
As the course contains many topics that can only be discussed with participants, we are unable to post a list of topics here. However, you can be sure that when players have completed this course they will be equipped for match play at professional level.

Coaching Course
Those players who have passed the advanced course qualification, can train to become an 8 Ball Academy coach and hold courses in their local area with the full marketing support of the academy.
The course provides potential tutors with all techniques needed to train players the 8 Ball Academy programme. From how to give demonstrations, to selling your courses - all the information is provided. Qualified coaches then receive on-going support as courses are updated.

At the end of each course there is an exam that gives participants the chance to gain a qualification recognised by the English Pool Association. Awards are presented at our Graduation Ceremony.
